Hi
We are planning to hire bikes in Finse and send three days travelling down to Flam, stopping at Hallingskeid, Myrdal and finally in Flam. We will then travel on elsewhere.
1.Can we hire bikes at Finse and then drop them off in Myrdal/Flam or do we need to return them to where we hired them?
2. Do the bike hirers usually supply luggage bags as we will need to carry our rucksacks with us?
3. Is there sufficient accommodation in Myrdal?
Many thanks
Ben

Reply from bike-norway.com: Hello,
Regarding bike rental at Finse you can check out http://www.finse1222.no/Engelsk/hotel_sykkel.htm and contact them directly for detailed information on the rental. On the same webpage you will find more useful information on the Navvy Road. There is accomodation in Myrdal (although no registered Cyclists Welcome accomodation); Myrdal Fjellstove and Vatnahalsen Høyfjellshotell.
We hope you will get a great trip!

Hei!
Bjarne

Reply from bike-norway.com: Hei,

Hello! I am planning to stay in Oslo from august 4 to august 18 on TANDBERG training courses. I will have 2 spare days 9-10 august and 3 more spare days 15-17 august. And I have the following questions:
1)What routes would you recommend for these two periods of spare days? Is it possible to consider Rallarvegen or Trollstigen?
2) Is it possible to rent a good mountain-bike for the whole stay (2 weeks) in Oslo or is it more reasonable to take my own bike?
3) Is it possible to take bike into the airplane (on local lines like SAS, e.g. Oslo-Bergen)? What about trains?
4) What routes/trails would you recommend for short evening rides in Oslo?
5) Where is it possible to get maps of Norway for Garmin GPS?
Thank you in advance!

Reply from bike-norway.com: Hei,

Hi Cycling Norway team! I will cycle in Norway in few weeks from Stavanger to Bergen. I would like to know if there is any way to rent some bikes at Stavanger tourism office for a week (at what price?). Do you know what kind of bike is it? MTB or roadster ? Are there any bicycle bags on it or have I to bring mine?
Have a good day.
Regards
Lambert ;)

Dear Cycling Norway team,
we want to cycle in norway in two weeks, flying by ryan-air to Haugesund. Is there is possibility to deposite the bicycle bags at the airport? We will do a tour to Hadangerfjord to Odda and than down to lysefjord. Is it possible to go this way along the streets or are there some roads closed for cyclists? A view years ago there was a map of that area Rogaland do you know if it is somewhere to get?
kind regards Florian

Reply from bike-norway.com: Hello,
Regarding deposite of bicycle bags at the airport in Haugesund we suggest you contact Avinor - post@avinor.no or the airport in Haugesund directly - +47 52 85 79 00.
Maps and guides can be purchased from our webpage, under brochures. I would suggest North Sea Cycle Route West (Nordsjøruta Vest) and/or Telemark og Ryfylke (but this last guide is unfortunately only in Norwegian). The map Cycle Routes in Norway
will also show signposted and recommend routes in Norway and has information about roads and/or tunnels not allowed for cyclists.
You can read more about the guides on www.castorforlag.no

With my family we are planning to cycle from Bergen to Sandefjord, through Voss and Geilo and then take a ferry and continue to Ystad. I wonder could you give some more precise directions, in particular with regard to the part from Bergen to Voss. Maybe you have a .gpx file or some other detailed list of waypoints? How well is it marked? If it is very well mardked, then perhaps no additional navigation info is necessary :-)

Reply from bike-norway.com: Since there are many tunnels which are not allowed for cyclists you will have to travel by train from Bergen to Stanghelle. From Stanghelle you can follow a signposted route with official bike signs to Evanger (Route nr 4) . From Evanger to Bulken and Voss.
You can read more about the route from our webpage http://www.bike-norway.com/Rute.asp?ID=25&KID=131&lang=ENG
From http://www.eksingedalen.net/brosjyrer.htm you can buy the map "On Two Wheels Between Voss and Bergen". From our webpage under brochures you can also purchase the map "Cycle Routes in Norway" which shows signposted and recommend routes in Norway and has information about roads and/or tunnels not allowed for cyclists.
(Unfortunately we do not have .gpx files)
Good luck on your planning!
