I am thinking about renting bikes in Flam and taken the train to Fagervatn to ride back to Flam. Do I have to rent bikes in advance (it is only for one day) ? If yes can you give me adress and phonenumber where I can rent bikes in Flam. Thank you.

Next weekend, my husband and I are coming to Norway. We are planning to go hiking but we are doubting about taking our racing-bikes as well. We do not find any information on your website about racing in particular. Is this common in Norway and how are the roads/ possibilities? We got the impression, that there are not too many roads and that cycling is mostly limited to cycling one road back and forth. Are cardrivers used to racing-bikes or is it dangerous for us to cycle in Norway? If cycling is not a good idea, we rather leave our bikes at home! Greetings, Irene and Ron, Holland

There are lots of roads and lots of roundtrips you can do. But traffic may be high at this time of year and some roads are narrow. So if you do not want to use the signposted routes which tries to avoid roads you may meet some dangerous situations. But isn`t that the case everywhere?

Reply from bike-norway.com:

Hi, regarding the Rallarvegen Myrdal-Flam descent, would you be able to advise if taking our 3-year old along in a centric child seat (the one mounted centrally on the frame) is reasonable for intermediate downhillers, or is it complete madness and it would be more sensible to get a return Flam railway ticket for my wife and kid ? I have read some route descriptions saying that it is very steep in places. Is dismounting and walking the steep sections an option, or are we talking deadly ravines ?

Reply from bike-norway.com:
Rallarvegen is not recommended for kids under 12. It is steep and stoney at times.
